Just a day in the life...

Well, I figure that you guys will get a laugh out of this evening...
We were having a quick dinner and were considering heading out to Target for groceries and Academy for the new T-Ball glove for Gibson. Landry was completely covered in macaroni and cheese, so I took her to the bathtub to clean her up quickly. As the water was running, Shane started hollering, "Haaannnah!!!! Haaannnah!!!!" from the living room. I ran in to find Hayden standing in his seat with vomit all over him, his chair, the chair next to him, Dad and Dad's pants (which was the reason that he was screaming), and somehow the carpet behind both of them. Shane was gagging and in a panic. (Shane said that I must admit that I gagged once as well...) I had him take off his pants and go to the bathroom to keep an eye on Landry who was in the tub. Meanwhile, I stripped down Hayden and had him go get in the tub with Landry while I cleaned the mess in the dining room.

About the time that I got everything cleaned and disinfected, Shane called for me to come in the bathroom with the two little ones. He was telling me how they were being so cute and were playing back to back in the tub. He had seen some gas bubbles come to the top of the water and had asked Hayden if he had to go poo-poo. Hayden stood up and said, "Check me! No poo-poo on my butt!" We were laughing at how funny he is when we looked down in the water and Landry was playing with a floating log that was NOT a tub toy! Shane screamed like a girl and immediately darted out the door. I pulled both kids out of the tub, along with the toys and was cleaning all of that mess. The kids were playing behind me (I was afraid that this was going to happen, but what can you do?) and when I turned around to put them back in the tub, Landry had tee-teed all over the floor! Once again cleaner and disinfectant...

Needless to say, our outing was cancelled! Here's to another great day tomorrow!

I want no part of this!

Grace and Gibson have fussed at each other for what seems like nonstop, in the backseat of the car this week. I don't know that it is any more than normal or if maybe I'm just being more sensitive and less patient than normal...

Anyway, we were on our way home in the car and Grace and Gibson had been fussing and I said something to them and Grace popped back with something like, "Well, what happened was..."

I said, "Grace!" and started to get on to her and Gib threw in, "Hey, I don't want any part of this conversation! Please don't talk to me!"

I didn't know whether to laugh because he sounded like his dad, or be impressed that he knew the word "conversation" and used it in the right context!

Life is full...

Well, good grief! I don't know how it has been nearly a month since my last post! I have completely lost control of my blogging...

Well, this month has been full! I went to San Antonio for the Texas Music Educators Association conference and left Shane for three days with all four kids...alone. I was very proud of him! I came back and everyone had heads, limbs, fingers, toes, etc. The kids all had dinner and baths every night and he got homework assignments completed and folders signed. He even had to do Valentine's cards for Grace and Gib's classes at school. The house had completely fallen apart and the laundry was stacked to the ceiling, but no complaints here.

He let the kids eat dinner outside a couple of times and they all got a big kick out of that.

That weekend when I got back, the refrigerator had broken and we spent Valentine's night with a repairman at our house until late. The next day, we found a plumbing leak in the kitchen that backed up into the garage. We called the plumber, but he couldn't get there until Tuesday. That mountain of laundry got even higher and the dirty dishes in the kitchen almost took over the rest of the house! We finally got everything fixed, but I am STILL playing catch-up to that whole mess...

I also played for UIL solo and ensemble auditions for the high school this month. I had 19 students this last weekend. It was nice to get to play the piano again, though it was a little forced practice.

Grace has lost another tooth. It was so loose that she didn't feel it when Shane pulled it out of her head. Of course I didn't touch or look at it as I have a severe aversion to all things from the mouth. Something about all those germs and bacteria... I even think that my own teeth are gross! Well, as soon as she pulled it, she dropped it and we looked and looked and never could find it. She immediately burst into tears because she knew that the Tooth Fairy would NOT come. I told her that we could just write a note and she reminded me that the Tooth Fairy is WAY too busy to come for notes. She only comes when there are real live teeth. While trying to calm her down, Shane asked if he could pay her for her tooth since the Tooth Fairy wouldn't be coming. He asked what the Tooth Fairy was paying these days.
She responded with, "$2 for the big teeth and $1 for the little ones."
I asked, "Was it a big or little one?"
She immediately came back with, "Well, since I never got to see it, I don't know if it was big or little, but I think that it was pretty good sized!"
She got $2 for her negotiating skills.

Gibson has been signed up to play T-Ball. We start practices next week and he couldn't be more excited. He has no idea what it is, but he has told EVERYONE that he is going to play.

Hayden and Landry are hanging in there as our backup children. If we have to get rid of the older two, we can start over with the younger ones. They are both sweet (although Landry is starting to show her true colors and all I can say is, "Katy bar the door!") and for the most part play well together. Landry climbs up to the dining table at every chance and tips over or gets into whatever she can find. I just finished cleaning up a very large cup of Kool-Aid that she tumped over. I turned around from putting Gibson in the bath the other night and she had both hands in the toilet, splashing away. She is a handful!

Well, I am going to do a better job keeping up with my posts! For now, I've got to clean the kitchen before bed...
