Camping in the living room

The kids had so much fun last night! Shane set up our massive 8 person tent in our living room. My job was to keep the kids occupied and out of the way while the set up was taking place. We scooted the coffee table into another part of the house and put the couches up against the walls. That tent is huge! The kids were so excited they could barely function...Shane dragged their mattresses into the tent and we set them up for bedtime. They got their bedtime stories and night-time prayers. It looked like everyone was going to sleep in the tent all night. Gracie found us after they had been in there for about 15 minutes. She looked like she was going to cry and said that she was uncomfortable. We went to check on the rest of them and the boys said that they were uncomfortable too. (I think because Gracie was...) So after that, we packed everyone's mattresses back into bed and off to their own beds they went. After a good night's sleep, the tent is looking like the play area of choice for the day!

My Little Dragon

We are so proud of Gibson! He has been taking Tae Kwon Do lessons as a Little Dragon at his karate studio. Today he went for his lesson and was able to test and earned his first stripe on his belt. It was also National Test Day at the studio, so there was an abnormally large crowd of people there today. After he went through his skills, his teacher announced to the room, "Gibson has just earned a stripe on his belt. Please give him a round of applause." The room erupted and Gibson beamed. This is a big accomplishment for him as he has wanted to test and get a stripe since his first day at Little Dragons.

Rangers Game

We have had the best summer! It has been a relaxing break from school (I am speaking for myself, Shane would definitely say differently!) and has been an opportunity for us to take the kids to do some fun things.

Our friend, Olivia, got tickets to a Rangers game and invited us to join her. There was a breeze so it wasn't to hot. We grabbed a table next to the Home Run porch and camped out there for the night. The table was next to the Kid's Zone and our kids had a blast hitting balls, shouting, "Charge!", shaking foam fingers and doing the wave. We ate our weight in hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy...

My First Blog

Well...I don't know what I am doing! So, here goes... We are a crazy, chaotic family of six enjoying life and trying to raise well-rounded, balanced children in a not so balanced day and age. I thought that this blog might be a fun way to keep our family and friends supplied with photos and info about our life and goings on. We'll see if I can figure it out! I might have to drag Shane into it with me...
