NFL Experience

On Super Bowl Sunday, Shane and I took the older two kids to the NFL Experience in Dallas. Wow. It was definitely a football overload. Pa went with us and he and Shane were in every guys dream. They had every football card, jersey, hat, pennant, etc. that you could ever want. We all had a good time looking at all the stuff, posing with different team uniforms, and playing all of the games. This is Grace running the 40 yard dash.
We got a family picture taken. Yes, we were all dressed to the hilt in our Seahawks jerseys. Gib really liked that cheese head.
The kids had the chance to participate in the NFL Play 60 football clinic. Grace decided that she didn't want too, but Gib had a good time. They had a couple of Cowboy players helping with the clinic as well as former Olympic athletes. It was pretty cool. They ran them through various drills in stations and then played flag football at each station. He had a good time.
I stood in line for an hour so that he could get in that clinic. They only took 70 kids and there were way more than that waiting. The things we do for our kids...

Snow Day Scenes

During our time inside, we spent a lot of time under blankets, watching movies and playing on the computer, but the cutest was watching Landry take pictures of everyone. She would walk around shoving her camera at everyone saying, "Cheese!"
We didn't venture outside until we finally got some real snow. We didn't get the 12 inches that others got, but we got a decent covering. Snow makes everything look beautiful and magical. ;)

It didn't stay that untouched for long! We got out there and had a snowball fight. (That was after both boys dissolved into crying messes because their hands and feet were so cold.)

Landry didn't venture out for long. Dad asked her if she wanted to go out with the boys and Grace. She responded back with, "No! It is too cold!"
We sure did have a great time and have definitely had lots of hot chocolate!

Valentine's Day Goodies

Down here in Texas, we have finally experienced that "hard" winter that everyone else in the U.S. has been talking about since November. We have officially had 5 snow days (unheard of), and have spent lots of time inside. It has meant that we have had lots of time to get crafty and stay busy! :) I was busy making the boys' Valentine's cards for their classes and Grace wanted help make hers too. She and I set up an assembly line and knocked out 30 cards for her friends. After all of that fun, I decided to make some for me too! :) These are tags to try around treat bags.

These are the boys'. They weren't really into having girly-looking hearts, lace, and pink, so I went another direction and added these cute, tough dinosaurs. They were happy and I still got to make them.

Up the nose

I don't know what it is about the men of my little family and their obsession with putting things in their noses, but they can all claim that they have. When Shane was about two or three, he shoved a sponge up his nose. Family members could smell a terrible smell, and couldn't figure out what it was. Evidently, he stunk so bad that no one wanted to hold him. Off to the doctor they went, the doctor went hunting and pulled out a stinky mess.

When Gib was in prek, while he was supposed to be napping, he was playing with a rock. He hid it up his nose and then couldn't get it out. Off to the nurse he went. Thankfully, it came out easily.

Last night, we were enjoying family movie night when suddenly Hayden jumped up and ran for his dad screaming, "There's a lego in my nose! I can't get it out!" As Shane grabbed him, I ran for a pair of tweezers. Meanwhile, Hayden was snorting. We were afraid that he was going to snort it right up into his brain! Shane was trying to talk him through his panic attack and told him to "blow out." Hayden opened his mouth and breathed, "Ahh..." Not exactly what we had in mind. Thankfully, it came out easily and we avoided a visit to the ER. Now all of them have participated in this little ritual and I'm hoping that no one else decides to become part of this little club! :)

Tuesday Trigger for Moxie Fab

Today I am participating in the Tuesday Trigger over on the Moxie Fab blog. The challenge was to create a card inspired by the above picture. Here is my card. I have to make a confession. I really do like Valentine's Day. I think that I am a hopeless romantic and I love the idea of flowers and cards and declaring my undying love for someone. That's not to say that I don't declare my love regularly, but I do love the idea of a day dedicated to reminding that special someone just how much I care and celebrating them.

Day 2 of Snowmaggedon

We are still snowed/iced in. Yesterday was fantastic and lazy. We watched movies and ate snacks and laid around. By the end of the day, everyone was a little stir crazy. We got up this morning and I took a cue from my mother. If you work children to death, the minute they get a little free time, they disappear. (By the way, I'm kidding about the working to death.) Sure enough, it worked! We did homework, practiced reading and math, cleaned house and they have disappeared.

Gibson is obsessed with Legos and little Lego movies on YouTube. He has watched one this morning over and over. I swear, I've heard it fifty times. So, I'm sharing the love. Enjoy! :)

Snowmaggedon

We are in the middle of what our local weatherman is calling "snowmaggedon." I woke up this morning at 4 am to thunder and then the sound of rain. Very shortly after, it turned to sleet and then snow. There's not much snow, but a nice thick layer of ice. The temps are supposed to stay in the 20s until Friday. Today we are enjoying hot chocolate, cinnamon toast, pjs and movies. What a great snow day!
