Berry Picking Time!

While at Grandma and Grandpa's house, Esther, Bekah, Grace, Gibson, Grandpa and myself all went blackberry picking. This activity is a bit nostalgic for me. When we were growing up, we were always picking wild blackberries on the county roads around our farm. We would gather buckets and containers that we could carry on our bikes and would ride to our designated patch for the day. Nostalgia kind of erases the number of cuts, chiggers and mosquito bites that this activity can contain... We still had fun anyway and the cobbler was delicious!

There were tons and tons of berries.

We actually went once before this picture was taken and completely filled every container that is shown in this picture. We got back to the house and Grandpa and Gibson decided that they wanted a go at it as well. So, off we went again!

It was starting to get hot and Gibson and Grace found a "cow home" and took a little rest.

Gibson was a trooper. No complaints from him!
In the top picture you can see where Grace was holding her head and saying, "Wow! It sure is hot! Do you think that we are almost done?"

Here are just a few of our yummy berries! As Grandpa would say, "They were berry wonderful!"

We contemplated going blackberry picking last weekend, too! But, we opted for sleeping in and being lazy instead. When I was a kid we just picked them in our backyard and the trip out to a pickin' farm sounded hot. Ha! But, you've inspired me to get going, mostly for the cobbler. :)
