Graduation

Wow! Where has this year gone?! It seems that I was just posting our "first day of school" picture and here we are at the end and it's all over! This has been a good year and a hard year. Gibson's first year in school was no walk in the park, but he definitely made improvements. Shane and I were just talking the other day that though it was not easy on any of us, we did the right thing by sending him to pre-k. His citizenship grade was an S for every six week period until the last and he finally earned himself an E! We have had a little party around here for that!

Here he is with all of his pre-k friends. They were all very proud of themselves for graduating and walking across the stage. He was very disappointed that he did not get to keep the little "map" or diploma...

Here he is with Mrs. Borg. There have definitely been some tears as he has realized that graduating means that you have to go to a new class next year.

Grace is an old pro at the graduating thing... We were very proud of her this year! She competed on the Battle of the Books team, placed second in the science fair, was in the Miler's Club (running club), participated in the gifted and talented program, and was the only second grader to make all As for the entire year. She and Dad were having a conversation about what a valedictorian is and how if she continues to keep her grades up like she is, that she could be a valedictorian. Grace was taking it all in and then asked, "What kind of jobs do valedictorians get?"
Shane answered, "They can be anything they want to be: doctors, lawyers, scientists."
Grace responded very seriously,"I have to choose a good job. I don't want to waste this opportunity!"
Dad was a trooper and made it out for both graduation ceremonies.

Here is Grace's second grade dual language class with both Mrs. Rodriguez and Mrs. Gray.
